Dig in! is a collection of exciting activities for you and your children to discover the importance of the environment in our communities. Aimed for children age between 8 to 13, these activities will provide an opportunity for creativity, imagination, and understanding in the new world and environment we live in today. Families and children can now learn together about urban farming, having kids become involved in activities such as the growing process of their own food; discovering how food gets from the field to the table; and thinking globally while acting locally, will better prepare them for a sustainable future. Every day will become a learning experience, from a budding leaf to a sprouting tomato, children will fully experience the wonder of Mother Nature and learn to become environmentally responsible. We all have a direct impact on educating our children in knowing about the importance of fresh local food, where food comes from, and how food is grown. Once children alleged that food comes from the grocery store, they will now cheer fully claim that food comes from the seeds sown into the ground and the nurturing required to turn the seeds into full -grown veggies. It is our hope that through these activities, children will share their new found knowledge with their families, friends, neighbours, and communities. Let’s dig in!
