Crushed, dried eggshells are a great addition to your garden. They add calcium and minerals back into the soil as they break down, and when sprinkled generously around the garden can discourage squirrels and raccoons from walking around in your garden from their sharp edges (Note: you’ll need a lot of eggshells to spread evenly across the soil). Save your eggshells by placing them in a sunny windowsill for a few days. When dried, crush and store in a container until you’re ready to use.

With Spring around the next corner, this is the best time to start saving your eggshells!
