Xeriscape means dry landscape, or landscape that does not need much or any external watering. This allows you to garden with less maintenance as you select plants with low water tolerance that are suited to the natural climate. Xeriscaping with edible plants is possible with certain fruit trees and herbs, though many edible plants in the Toronto climate may not be suitable for xeriscaping.
