If you have extra spring onions from the grocery store, plant the bulb and any attached roots  in a pot of soil to grow more green onions for a second harvest. Plant the bottom 2 inches (5 cm) of the bulb in a container or directly in the ground in the sunniest spot possible. Leave only the top inch exposed, water regularly, and enjoy a second crop in a few weeks.

Spring onions have hollow green leaves and have a milder flavour than most regular onions. Eat them fresh, freeze them for later use, or dry them to add to your soups/stews.

Thanks for this tip! Do you mean that you can use the top part and plant just the rooted bottoms?
