Macronutrients are essential elements all plants need and in relatively large amounts. Plants utilize these macronutrients for plant growth and development. Plants also need other nutrients, called micronutrients in smaller quantities for proper growth and development. The six main macronutrients plants need are:

  • N, Nitrogen
  • P, Phosphate
  • K, Potassium
  • Mg, Magnesium
  • Ca, Calcium
  • S, Sulphur
