Not all insects are harmful for your vegetable garden. In fact many insects play a vital role in aiding and improving your garden, such as improving pollination and eating harmful insects.
Beneficial Insects
- Lacewing
- Lacewings eat aphids. Attract them by planting dill, cosmos, sunflowers, and dandelion, alyssum, fennel and carrots
- Hoverflies
- Hoverfly larva are great at controlling aphids, thrips, and other plant sucking insects. Attract them by planting carrots, coriander, dill, fennel, alyssum, cosmos, parsley and yarrow
- Ladybugs
- Ladybugs feed on aphids and scale insects, but can become a pest if their numbers increase. Attract them by planting yarrow, dill, fennel, and Queen Anne’s lace
